Jamie Huntley

Hockey Official and Coach Jamie Huntley – Park and her husband Ryan Park, both San Diego Police Detectives were tragically killed in an automobile accident on Interstate 5 in San Diego on June 4, 2021 at approximately 10:30 AM. They were victims of a wrong way driver in the San Ysidro area.

Jamie had a long and well-versed hockey career as she transitioned from player to official and then coach. During her time in the game, Jamie made friends wherever she went. A great smile and wonderful attitude made her easy to like and she was a friend to us all. Jamie began officiating in San Diego, but that quickly turned into assignments throughout the country, and world, as her skills and abilities were recognized at every level she worked. Jamie’s skating ability was on par with the best in the game, at any level. With the 2022 Olympics on the horizon, many felt Jamie was on the verge of realizing her Olympic dream.

Jamie met a career goal being hired by the San Diego Police Department in 2012. There she met, and married Ryan Park. Jamie and Ryan were a great couple and a lot of fun to be around; Jamie with her aggressive side and Ryan with his easy-going nature that made them a great team. They were both very motivated and promoted within the department. Ryan was often seen at the rink watching Jamie officiate as she pursued her dream. Many officials attended their wedding and will always remember their playful enthusiasm as they began their life together.

Losing friends who are so loved is one of the hardest things any of us will ever go through. During these difficult times We are reminded to look past the insignificant things in life, as tomorrow is guaranteed to no one. Please keep Jamie and Ryan’s families in your thoughts and prayers.
